Initiatives
The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion has undertaken several initiatives to assist in reaching Western University’s goals of prioritizing inclusivity on campus. The current initiatives the office has moved forward with are the EDID Working Group, Black and Indigenous Scholarships, and the Scarborough Charter.
Western Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (WIDE) Survey
Western has renamed the Western Equity Census to the Western Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (WIDE) Survey to reflect its dynamic nature and widespread scope. The questions were updated by the EDI Data Working Group, who engaged in extensive consultation processes with the wider campus community. The WIDE survey will be available through My Human Resources and Student Center on February 1, 2024. Information collected through the WIDE Survey is voluntary and confidential. We strongly encourage you to complete the WIDE Survey when it is available to ensure your voice is heard and contributes to the development of a more equitable and inclusive Western.
EDI Promoting Unity, Leadership and Supporting Equity (PULSE) Newsletter
EDI PULSE is sent at the end of each quarter in a calendar year to anyone who has registered for the EDI Mailing List and highlights upcoming events, news, student stories, important dates, and more.
Western EDID Working Group
Western created the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, (EDI), Advisory Council in March 2021 as part of its commitment in response to the final report of the Anti-Racism Working Group (ARWG), struck in 2019, which made a series of recommendations accepted by Western in 2020.

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Decolonization (EDID) Champions
EDID Champions are allies who play a crucial role in shaping the organization's culture and ensuring that it is a place where all students and employees feel valued, respected, and included. By championing equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization, EDID Champions will contribute to more welcoming and innovative spaces.
