Resources to Address the Post Secondary Education Standard Recommendations

  1. Accessible Instructional Materials:  The Centre for Teaching and Learning  offers  Certificate in Universal Design for Learning as well as Accessibility Boosts .  To ensure a High contrast between text and background (i.e., black and white), you can use Colour Contrast Ratio Calculator

  2. Accessible Websites and Digital Content: Western Communications offers support in identifying the AODA requirements as well as instructions on how to create accessible documents: Web Accessibility - Communications - Western University (uwo.ca) .

  3. Accessible Campus Services: Western strives to ensure our libraries, labs, student services and facilities are accessible.  If there is a physical barrier which prevents a space on campus from being accessible, please contact Facilities Management .  If you require assistance for an accessible service, please review the website for an accessibility contact or contact accessibility@uwo.ca .

  4. Accessible Examinations and Assessments and Accommodation Planning: Your Accessible Educationcounselor can assist you with planning for your accommodations during your academic journey.  This includes if you need to coordinate an accommodation exam or assessment.

  5. Training and Awareness:  Western offers several training opportunities for staff and faculty.  We offer the required AODA training in  Service and Accessibility in Teaching.  For more information on these modules: Required Training - Human Resources - Western University (uwo.ca) .  There is also Accessibility and Accommodations training for Leaders and there is a module in development through the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion on Academic Ableism.

  6. Feedback and Continuous Improvement:  Our student experience team gather feedback from Student with disabilities to continue to improve accessibility services.  Western also has an email address for all systemic or campus accessibility issues:  accessibility@uwo.ca
