Black Resistance Against the Status Quo: A Black History Month Panel

Feb. 24, 5 to 7 p.m.
Location: Thames Hall Atrium, Thames Hall

This event brings together leaders with invaluable perspectives on systemic anti-Black racism and the lived experiences of Black communities. Panelists will explore the multifaceted dimensions of Black resistance, particularly how it manifests in advocating for justice, equitable access to care and education and the protection of human dignity.

We are thrilled to host Chief Commissioner Patricia DeGuire (the Chief Commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission), Dr. Remi Warner (Interim Executive Director of the Human Rights Legal Support Centre), Alexandra Kane (Music Director at the Grand Theatre, Lead Activist for Black Lives Matter London, and Founding Member of the Black London Network) and Oghenetega (“Tega”) Glory Odjevwedje (Co-president of the Black Law Student’s Association, Western Chapter) for this panel discussion.

This event is hosted in collaboration with Western Law, the Black Law Student's Association (BLSA) Western Chapter, the Robbins Ollivier Speaker Series Committee, Kings Univeristy College, and the Black at Western Future Lawyers (BFL).
