Black and Indigenous Student Scholarships
The Black and Indigenous Student Scholarship program is designed to recognize all-round excellence and support our incoming Black and Indigenous students to thrive during their time are Western. They are awarded on the basis of based on a competitive or outstanding admission average as calculated by Western. President's Entrance Scholarship also recognizes passion for the pursuit of learning, creative and innovative thought, engagement in extra-curricular activities such as the arts and athletics, as well as community service through contributions to school and community life. James Jenkins President’s Entrance Scholarship for Black Students
Five at $50,000 ($20,000 in year 1, $10,000 annually for years two to four)
Carmeta Thelma Hodges Western Continuing Admission Scholarship of Excellence for Black Students
Ten at $6,000 continuing for up to four years, plus $2,000 for optional study abroad experience.
Western Continuing Admission Scholarship of Excellence for Black Students
Twenty at $6,000 continuing for up to four years, plus $2,000 for optional study abroad experience.
Lt.Col. Kenneth Jacobs Western Continuing Admission Scholarship of Distinction for Black Students
Ten at $2,500 continuing for up to four years, plus $2,000 for optional study abroad experience.
Western University Bursary for Black Students
Eligibility: Available to full-time and part-time domestic students in any year of an undergraduate program on Western’s main campus who are in financial need and self-identify as Black.
Value: Number and value will vary
National Indigenous Scholarship Program
Four awards at $50,000 each to Indigenous students applying from secondary school (or equivalent) ($20,000 for year-one, $10,000 for year’s two to four based on ongoing registration)
One award at $50,000 to an Indigenous student applying from a postsecondary institution ($20,000 for year-one, $10,000 for year’s two to four based on ongoing registration)
Western Continuing Admission Scholarship of Excellence for Indigenous Students
Thirty at $6,000 continuing for up to 4 years, plus $2,000 for optional study abroad experience.
